RipRapRipOff.com was created out of frustration and a dedication to professionalism.
I have owned a computer consulting company for over 18 years and believe in mottos like "do it right or not at all", "make it happen", and often say "throw me in a room with my competitors and may the last man standing win". I say these things because I believe the person who should get the job is the one that is the best overall value, not the CHEAPEST!
Value is the combination of knowledge, ability to deliver, consistency of success, education, knowing the required resources, and expectation management of the contractor to the consumer.
I have been very frustrated in recent years at how poorly many people in all areas of their profession are so unprofessional!
I recently had a guy come to my house to quote me gutters. He said he did many more roofs than gutters and was "an expert" in roofing. This was much like my experience here with my RipRap contractor, who claimed expert status and knowledge in his profession.
Well, like the roofer "expert", who could not tell me that the stains on my roof were actually a fungus that deteriorates singles and could be removed with a mixture of Tri-Sodium Phosphate (TSP), bleach and water, my RipRap contractor told me what he knew and how great he was too.
It is sad and frustrating to me that people in various industries can set themselves up in business and we as consumers find out after they do a poor job, that THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!
Actually in about 20 minutes to 2 hours, you can research on the internet and be more educated than these "EXPERTS". It is sad.
My goal here personally is to get my contractor to fix, or give me back my money to get a professional to fix, his mistakes and poor workmanship. I send him and his lawyer copies of my discoveries and DVDs contained in this website and ask them to come to the site, discuss it, and fix it. They have so far just replied that they are going to court and suing me and to date have not met me to fix the issues. So, I post them here to educate you and make sure you don't have this happen to you.
This web site has become a consumer advocate and educational website that WILL RAISE THE BAR of RipRap work and hopefully continue to create professionals out there or put the others out of business. There are those who know how to do it right and you need to know the Do's and Don'ts of RipRap . You should know who did my job to ensure your job doesn't become a BUYER BEWARE nightmare too.
