Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What Kind of Fabric Do I Need?
A: There are plenty of different fabrics available to use.  The Corp of Engineers requires a GeoTextile fabric that would be needed to retain the soil/sand.  This fabric comes woven and non-woven.  I prefer a thick 8mil minimum woven fabric.  If possible get one created in conjuction with the Corp of Engineers like this one (click here).

Q: What does sunlight have to do with it?
A: Sunlight is the enemy.  The purpose of the rock is to cover the fabric, preventing sunlight from touching the fabric and to keep the fabric in position while breaking up the waves.  Usually, layers of type 2 or 3, rock on the top of the fabric to layers of larger rock are recommended for proper installation and to prevent sunlight penetration.
